Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 into a very poor family with 12 kids later on, realized early that she was able to escape her hardships through a vivid imagination. Before she could write and read, she was making up her own songs. In 8 years, she had her very first guitar. When she was 11 years old, she began to sing at Knoxville Tenn's local radio station. The first album she recorded was in the same calendar year Gold Band Records, a tiny independent label. Although she was studying, she already made a name of herself within the local arena. However, her goal was to be able to perform at a much larger level. After graduating high school in 1964, she immediately moved to Nashville. The first charting record she had on Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner began looking for women to sing for his television show that was syndicated around the exact at the same time. Parton accepted the role in the year 1966. She she joined RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in the year 1969. The show ended in 1974 when her solo songs like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene had begun charting their collaborative efforts.
