Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actor. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's mother, made her acting debut in the role of Flora McGrath. For this role she received the Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in the romantic drama The Piano at the young age of 11. She was the second-youngest winner in Oscar the history of Oscars. When she answered an open call for auditions and was selected for the part, she was cast in the role of Flora McGrath, the daughter of a mute Scottish piano player who moved into New Zealand in mid-19th-century to be married. She was only nine years old and did not have any previous experience as an actor. At the age of a teen her family left Canadian to United States. Paquin appeared as Jane Eyre's title character as an teen in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (2000) as well as the main role for the character in Fly Away Home (2000). Paquin played Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997, she played the Spanish queen in a less prominent part. She was a teenager on the screen in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) as well as A Walk on the Moon (1999) and played the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
